Neutrals Are My Best Friends

I haven't felt like writing anything in a while. I don't know why but I am exhausted and I feel like I wouldn't make much sense if I'd write a review or something. But, I do want to write something quickly before I go, so:

My 10 Fav. Shadows!: Not my top 10... I thought this was my top but then I thought about it again and I decided that no... I like a lot more than just these. But the idea is to not choose 2 colors from the same palette... so you'll see more diversity here. Most of these are drugstore products. Definitely check these out when you stop by CVS or Walgreens or something.

Not in any particular order!

#1: Maybelline's Beach Blush - I think this is Maybelline's newer formulation due to the dark brown packaging. This color really brings out my brown eyes. Don't know why! Very very pretty chocolate milk kinda color with a bit of silver shimmer (not so much though). Nice lasting power... pigmentation can be better.

#2: Lancome's Bikini Golden - very pretty light golden color. Very nice for lid shade. Very pigmented and easy to blend. Lasting power could be better.

#3: WnW's palette in Mojave Mauve - gorgeous taupe! GORGEOUS!! Looks great on the lid!! Or in the crease for a more subtle look. Very nice and shimmery and just amazing texture.

#4: Revlon's quad in Coffee Bean - LOVE LOVE LOVE this for my lid or as a blender shade (you know when you blend the edges of a darker shadow you use something close to your skin tone). But as you can tell, this is not just your typical nude shade. It has a cool undertone which makes it very unique. Really pretty and matte. Great for an everyday look. Just very versatile.

#5: Maybelline's Chai Latte - I use this everyday for my brows. It looks so good and natural on me! Great as a crease shade or liner shade. Even for a matte smokey look. Just a great shade!

#6: NYX's Root Beer - this color is LOVE! LOVE LOVE LOVE (Lady Gaga). The only complaint is the staying power. But this color has a plummy undertone so it is just unique!

#7: L'Oreal's HiP Duo in Sassy - this taupe color is so awesome! Use it for a smokey look or crease shade. AH - it is just gorgeous. Texture is amazing! This is the best shade EVER (MAC's Satin Taupe dupe).

#8: ELF's Butternut quad - My first neutral quad. I use this color as lid shade a lot! Also for subtle look I put it in my crease. Honestly - this is just a lovely bronzy, golden color. Goes with everyone I feel like.

#9: CoverGirl's Tapestry Taupe - another really unique color w/ a taupe look but silver undertone. VERY PRETTY. Of course, CG's singles are harder so texture isn't the best and pigmentation can be better. But I love this color for my lids. It just looks fantastic.

#10: ELF's Drama quad - the gray (not darkest) is so useful! I didn't think I want a quad w/ blacks and grays but this has helped me w/ so many things. More than I could imagine. Really great for lining and just deepen whatever shade is in the crease. Wish it would blend a bit easier but not hard to work with.

---------------

So these are my favs! Honorable mentions are:

NYX: Iced Mocha
Revlon quad: the coppery shade below the one I mentioned
ELF quad: The darker shade in the ELF
MAC's: sketch
mark: Minx

Just a bunch more! I've had pictures of all of these all over my pages so feel free to check it out.

I just want to know: What are some of your favorite shades?

So after hearing about all of these amazing deals going on at CVS and Walgreens - I HAD TO CHECK IT OUT! And I am so happy I did because I bought stuff that I wanted for 75% and I am really happy w/ a lot (if not all) of my purchases!

So at CVS:

- Milani Glimmer Stripes in Honey Glimmer

- L'Oreal's HiP Paint in Nervy

All 75% OFF!!

And then before that I went by Walgreens and picked up:

- Milani shadow single in Java Bean
- Rimmel's nail polish in Milk Chocolate

Both were $2.19!!

So AMAZING finds! In a way - I'm glad these were on sale. If not for that, I don't think I would try them out. But then again, they are discontinued so too bad I like them... they're gone forever huh?

Sorry this post isn't that interesting! I'd try to write more but I'm so tired...

BEEN WATCHING FIGURE SKATING ALL DAY!!! Ha ha ha--- yes. Love that.

Stay tune b/c I want to write a review on my Milani products.

Guess what??? The Sunset City is very similar to the ELF Studio Blush/Bronzer combo. If you don't like to order things online... this might be the sale for you. CHECK OUT YOUR CVS!! QUICK.

- remember, they might not have the sticker but they are on sale. Just get it and bring it to the counter.

Wanna end the post w/ happy pictures I found on my camera:

San Diego w/ the family last summer;

Beware and Take Care!

Apparently (I read somewhere) that lip cancer has increased and people (scientists - I think) believe that it is caused by shinier lip glosses and lipsticks.

This makes sense because us girls are looking for shiny lip glosses to give us fuller looking lips! And plus they are just really pretty.

From Maybelline's Shiny-licious to Lancome's Ultra Shiny Lipgloss - companies are catering to our demands and we need to be careful.

Now - I'm not saying that shiny lip glosses cause cancer but I'm saying that there are speculations in the scientific world. Whatever it is, lip cancer is rising and it just ISN'T WORTH IT. NOW - I'm also NOT saying that we should toss our beloved shiny lip glosses/sticks I'm saying that we need to learn to protect our fragile lips.

So I come to you w/ a few solutions:

Remember Softlips... well it has SPF 20! HECK YEAH! You put this underneath all your lip stuff and BAM! you are protected my friend... for awhile. Do remember to reapply!

Not a Softlips fan - well Blistex is your friend.

* I'm sure many other lip balms out there have SPF. These are the only 2 I've come across. Too bad I don't think Burt's Bees have it... SO SAD! They're my fav. lip balm.

Maybelline's Extreme Moisture lipsticks have SPF 15; So do the Revlon's Lustrous Lip glosses! WOOH! Beat that!

Those are the ones I know about - actually my Lancome lipsticks also have SPF 15 too... I think. NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE.

If you know any others... please share your knowledge.

Thanks for reading... I'm going to bed now.

URGH for school! Only 2nd week and I already messed up. I thought this is suppose to get easier. GUESS NOT!

The Golden Globes Discussion:

I watched the Golden Globes last night and I was actually pretty into it. Of course I was rooting for movies that I've seen and really enjoyed: Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Inglourious Basterds, The Fantastic Mr. Fox. And shows that I really love: 30 Rock, House and such.

Of course the night was filled with Haiti support and they really tried to do as much as they can as celebrities to spread the words of a global effort to help the tragic nation. So many ways to donate: NBC.com or Redcross.com... a lot of ways.

But most of the night I was also distracted by the FASHION!!! Yes, what would a celeb award show be without the FASHION???

So I ask you guys to help me as I decide who had some of the best stuff. Of course I am no expert... these are just my opinions!! PLEASE SHARE YOURS.

All pics were taken from Just Jared and go there for bigger and better pictures!

SIMPLE IS ALWAYS BETTER: Stunning natural beauties!

Jennifer Aniston looks gorgeous when she got onto the stage.

I've always adored Kristen Bell and Kate Winslet's elegance... no one can beat that.

Not always a big fan of Christina Aguilera but I thought she looks pretty in this dress. And I love her make up too! Very fresh and elegant.

~ ** ~

BEAUTIFUL PURPLES: I couldn't stop looking at these gowns!

This is my favorite gown at the Golden Globes this year - worn by Emily Blunt. So classic and the color: GORGEOUS!! I love this kinda lilac/lavender color that just ease down from the top to the bottom.

I thought it was very nice how you can see her legs... but not completely. Very pretty. I don't like dark colors of purple of Sandra Bullock pulled it off very well.

~ ** ~

I NEED YOUR OPINIONS: I don't know if I like these or not...

I LOVE Zoe Saldana and the top of this dress is beautiful... but I feel like the bottom is too much.

I can't decide - the color is not the best... the design is not the best either! I do love Diane Kruger in Inglourious Basterds though.

I enjoy the pretty origami like design at the top and the color is fabulous! Also the piece on the shoulder is very unique and pretty. But the bottom... could be better. But Maggie Gyllenhaal has always one been one of my favorite actresses.

Eh... Kate Hudson looks better than she normally does but this dress confuses me.

~ ** ~

NOT SO MUCH: Better luck next time ladies

Gorgeous color but AHHH - too many things coming out of her...

Really Mariah.... really...

I'm happy that she has gone up from her Twilight Days but Anna Kendrick can look beautiful... just not in this.

I love her speech and I enjoy watching her in movies but this dress definitely did not come off well to me. Sorry Drew Barrymore, maybe you should take off those "Lady GaGa like" shoulder pieces.

~ ** ~

* Besides that - Yeah, go Monique... her speech was beautiful.

* ROCK ON AVATAR!! JAMES CAMERON AND THE CAST/CREW! ROCK ON... you guys stole the show w/ Best Director and Best Picture. Can't wait for the Oscars.

* Meryl Streep - you are too talented to be humble. But it is amazing that you are.

* Martin Scorsese's honor award was very touching. Of course I didn't pay attention his speech much.

* Sandra Bullock :D Robert Downey Jr :D :D

* I KNEW that Christoph Waltz was gonna get Best Actor - and probably will go on to win the Oscar too for his role in Inglourious Basterds. His performance was amazing.

~ ** ~

Obviously I love movies as much as beauty stuff. Stay tune for more things.

GUESS WHAT? I finally saw Hard Candy at my Walmart!!! So excited. It replaced the Max Factor stuff... so sad. I love my Max Factor 2000 Mascara.... UGH!

Pucker UP!

So I'm looking through some pictures that I've uploaded and edited and decided to finally write something about them!

First is my latest lipstick purchase (I haven't purchased a single lip thing since... I want to say May 2009).

This lipstick (I'm a bit mad at myself) I purchased FULL price at the drugstore. I don't know, it was one of those impulses. I was there... I saw it... and I WANTED IT! Ha ha. It wasn't calling to me like the Lord of the Ring's ring... but pretty close. I kept going back to it and I was like THAT IS IT! I am just gonna get it. If I don't like it I'll return it (maybe... I don't quite know what the policy is).

So, here it is:

The Revlon Color Burst lipstick in Soft Rose. I knew which color I wanted to get because I read this DUPE alert from Recessionista. YUP YUP.

Here's a swatch:

Now, do I like this???

Well, it doesn't do much for my dry winter lips, that's for sure. I'm quite sure it irritated it more, actually. Also, it has a nicer staying power than a lot of my other lipsticks BUT it does the thing where it is darker on the edges and lighter on the inside (very annoying... and actually gross looking especially if you are talking to people all day).

The only thing I truly truly love from this Color Burst line is the PACKAGING!! AHH so pretty!! I love the design. It looks so sleek. It's like having something fancy from the drugstore you know! Very nice.

The color... I'm not crazy about it. It is a nice Rosy color which I think would suit me better in the spring or something. Generally, I think lighter and nuder colors are just more wearable. Although shades like this makes you look more dressed up and more polished.

Finally, do I recommend this? I honestly think if you really want to try a new product - GO for it! It is nothing bad but it is nothing I would buy again. Why? Because it is really nothing that special. I'm sorry but there aren't many shades to choose from and none of them really shout out to me. Don't buy this at full price like me - I'm a dummie. But I don't think I'm gonna return mine. I think it might be okay as long as I have a good lip balm underneath.

I hope this helps some of you who are in the market for some lipsticks!

--------------------------

Also, I took swatches of this other lipstick:

It is Maybelline Extreme Moisture in Windsor Rose, another pink lipstick.

From close up, I think the flash makes it warmer than it actually is. It is definitely on the cool side but I think it could work on a lot of people. For me, I have to warm it down with a gloss - like a warmer color.

So, this is how I did this (COMPLICATED for a lipstick! I know) but I put on some lip balm (which Soft Lips isn't do ANYTHING for me right now!), then put some NYX Circe on to tone down the natural pigmentation of my lips. Finally I put on the lipstick, and eventually ended it with a nice peach gloss over it.

URGH - so many steps. Probably not worth it but I still enjoy using it time and time again. It is nicely moisturizing and it is VERY pigmented. I love the Maybelline Moisture Extreme because they are very pigmented sometimes. And sometimes they are sheer but in a good way.

Do I recommend this: NO, there are better lip colors out there but if you see this swatch and you're thinking "I LIKE IT!", then get it. No harm done there.

-------------------

Hooray, I'm trying to use up all the new pictures I've uploaded so I can finally take more pictures and get more ideas for future posts.

I hope you guys enjoy!

Oh ha ha... I will end this post with a picture... I'm sure you gals will ENJOY this one... Well, at least I do:

AHH!! HOT!!!

Ha ha, check out those 6 packs!! OR SHOULD I SAY THOSE Rectus Abdominus (yes, I'm a dork!)

Sassy Lady!

No, my titles never make any sense...

BUT: this post is a review for the L'Oreal HiP duo Sassy and Sculpted. I've heard about them so much that I decided to get both. The best part was: I swapped for them! Yay. So I didn't really have to pay for much. Can you guys believe this and my Chai Love You lipstick is all that I own from L'Oreal? I guess it doesn't appeal to me as much.

Okay, so let's get to it:

Swatches for Sassy:

PROS:
- BEAUTIFUL texture!! So soft!!!!!
- Amazing to blend.
- The taupe color is amazing: Satin Taupe dupe!! W00t.
- Decent staying power

CONS:
- The darker bluer color looks beautiful in the pan... but not swatched or on the eye
- The colors together can be so MUDDY! The blue color will eventually just turn into the taupe color. I hated that.
- If you want a better pigmentation then use a cream shadow underneath. As you can see from the swatches, the top has cream shadows underneath. This step is important especially if you want that blue color to stand out. I think using like a white or lighter shadow will help.

Overall - I think it's worth it just for that taupe color. Honestly, that color is LOVE!!!!! And the texture is amazing! AMAZING :D I wore that taupe color all over my lids for New Years and for a party I went to on Monday night... (yeah, partying on Monday night! crazy college kids, let me tell you! Ha ha... just joking).

Swatches for Sculpted:

PROS:
- NICE pigmentation. You don't really need a cream shadow base (orimer base is needed though... for any shadows really)
- Very soft and nice texture (although not as nice as the Sassy duo)
- The pink color is nice as a lid color because it is wearable. Not BRIGHT pink... ya know.

CONS:
- The purple on the eyes leave very little purple. It looks very much like a dark, sorta almost just black color. Pretty red shimmers though.
- The darker purple also looks like a BRUISE color... so... becareful with that one. Use precise control!

Overall: I really like the pink but I didn't fall in love w/ the colors like I did w/ that taupe color from Sassy. However, I think this is pretty nice and the colors work together well. Cute colors for Valentines Day :)

----------------

I hope everyone is having a good day. Mine's not bad so far. First day of school did not SUCK... whoo hoo! It was actually pretty good :D Very odd, indeed.

BY THE WAY: I finally saw The Proposal and I really like it! I like because the story was cute. It was overly romancy and also Ryan Renolds is certainly a MAJOR eye candy. LOVE HIM! AND - Love Sandra Bullock. OMG, she made me laugh just as she did in Miss Congeniality. If you are a chick-flick kinda gal... I recommend it... the kiss at the end was very sweet... UNLIKE the kiss in "He's Just Not That Into You". Justin Long needs to learn how to on-screen kiss better!

I am at work so I am still able to write. Thanks for reading! Hope you guys stay tuned for more!

"I left my head and heart on the dance floor"

Lady GaGa's new song... is stuck in my head. Great. But anyways, I just want to write something today because I KNOW that school starts tomorrow which means that posting will be a problem and commenting will also be hard.

Probably not this week - because it is only the first week back - but starting next week...

I have to get ready for my Pharmacy school interview!!!

Please, anyone have any advice on school interviews - especially pharmacy - let me know!!! I'm very EXCITED but very NERVOUS!!

PS. Is it important to wear a blazer? Do the blazer and the pants have to match in color. I have a black blazer and a gray pair of pants.

Okay, so this might be the best purchase of this month.

** As you know, one of my New Year resolution is to keep a budget of $20 a month... ha ha... fat chance. I already spent $30 and it is only the beginning of this month. BAD! I know. So I'm gonna stop for January.

So what is this purchase you ask? Well my friends, let me show you:

The ELF blush and bronzer duo set.

YES, YES YES, I absolutely adore this thing!! So, I'm just gonna do what I do best and write a pro/con list.

PRO:
- CHEAP - 4g for $3 on the website

- The blush is just fantastic. It is a nice coral shade but unlike a lot of drugstore coral shade, this one is not light. It is a bit darker so I don't need to keep building the color but it is still a very natural look. It has enough pigment after one swipe of the brush. It has a bit of golden shimmer in it but it is not obvious when you wear it. I think this will give you a beautiful glow during spring and summer! (YES, I'm ready for those seasons now).

- The bronzer is soooo amazing!! AH it gives a beautiful warmth to my face. It just makes my face glow and tan. Again, this is a bit on the darker side so fair girls: do be aware. Also has a tiny bit of golden shimmer that won't show through too much. Overall, I really enjoy this color on my face. Not orange but more brown. Really fits the definition of BRONZER/TAN.

- I got complimented on the blush :D HE HE!!!!! You have no idea that much that makes me happy. I love being complimented but especially on my complexion.

- The mirror/packaging is one of my favorite parts. I love this mirror!! It is HUGE! I put it up against my other mirror and did this whole optic illusion of a mirror inside a mirror inside a mirror... the point is... this mirror is an awesome size... and for traveling YES!!!! PERFECT size.

CONS:
- If you have a lighter skin tone, this might be a bit too dark... but it doesn't hurt to try but just apply w/ a lighter hand.

- If you don't like shimmer... well this won't be for you either. But this thing isn't so obvious that people will be like - why is your face so shiny - it is blinding me.

- You have to order this online ** but I think it will come to Target soon though.

That's it. It really enjoy this product. If you haven't watched this already, Emilynoel83 did this "Emily Award" where she mentions this product.

Check it out.

---------------------------

To end this post, I just want to show you a school look that I've been trying out.. you know, for the upcoming semester.

Very nice and neutral. Perfect for everyday! I used my Revlon quad in Coffee Bean.

Great quad!

---------------------------

Again, school starts tomorrow and I would like to apologize in advance if I take awhile to blog or to comment.

GOOD LUCK to anyone who's going to school and starting a new semester!!!! And lets make 2010 a good one!

Actually, I will end with a few pics to show you that SPRING IS COMING... or GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL!
